Pastor Kwesi Kamau
Dr. Kwesi Kamau is an author, activist theologian, and serves as the Lead Pastor of IMPACT Church in Dallas, Texas. His writing, speaking, preaching, and teaching have served to inspire thousands to live their best lives in service to God and humanity.
In August 2014, Dr. Kamau took a leap of faith to start an innovative church built around prayer and discipleship in a post-modern age. After just a few years, IMPACT Church carries out critical ministries of mercy and justice across Dallas/Fort Worth and around the world.
Raised on the south side of Chicago, Dr. Kamau has a natural passion for community organizing. He served as a national youth organizer for Rainbow/PUSH under Rev. Jesse Jackson and worked for then-organizer, Barack Obama, carrying out voter education and registration. He also created an award-winning youth development program, teaching children holiness and heritage called the Rites of Passage Respect Academy.
After more than twenty years of working in Church-based community activism, Dr. Kamau founded Impact Discipleship, LLC to empower churches to comprehensively transform their communities from the inside out through prayer and discipleship.
Dr. Kamau studied Bible and Theology, Urban Studies, and Music at Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois. He earned his Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology, Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated with honors from Southern Methodist University with a Doctor of Ministry in Evangelism and Mission. He has written several books, including A Passion for Prayer and Better Days: Encouragements for Every Day.
First and foremost a family man, Dr. Kamau is grateful to share his life and ministry with his wife, Monti, their five fantastic children—Nia, Jada, Bailey, Josiah, and Jeremiah, and his mother, Ann Bailey.
